Just had my deluxe bundle delivered. About to have a first listen, managed to put off listening to the released singles apart from the first so most of it is fresh.

Had my white colour vinyl signed this afternoon, quick chat with Ian and it was lovely to meet up with fellow forum members and the great unwashed x

What a week. Trawling YT on Monday afternoon, saw link for Ian Brown First World Problems, thought WTF?, danced around the living room for the next 6 mins or so in total delight to have him back (what you been up to these past few years anyway Brownie? I've missed yer), onto google, new album for sale, holy crap!
It gets better. Am now sat in same living room with that beautiful glow of having seen your team make football history (yeah yeah yeah it was only a last-16 tie but eff that), and having a first listen to my new CD. I don't do twitter or owt like that but felt compelled to express my gratitude and congratulations if not to Ian personally then somewhere in his vague direction (good old forums) for his latest banging record. You're a very spot on man, repeatedly. Cheers Sir. Personal and likely unique opinion whilst I'm here - Black Roses is the best cover version I've heard on record since The Sisters take on Gimme Shelter. Exquisite. |

First world problems became annoying to me quite quickly.
The rest of it is pretty decent in my opinion. As far as Ian brown solo music goes...I like blue sky day, ripples, dreamer and chaos to harmony is alright Assuming the roses heard these and declined to get involved, seems disappointing. Would have loved to hear these with the rest of the roses on it too. I dunno, maybe they were not into them because they sound too much like IB solo tracks and not like the Stone Roses. They kinda was hoping for tunes that were written like the debut, Brown/Squire. Neither of these dudes has ever reached similar heights and since the Brown/Squire tunes ceased in the 90’s, the tunes they all release are lacking something imo, but if it’s over then at least ian is writing and releasing music. |
