Ian is looking forward to singing on the pitch.
Tickets still on general sale for this game and prices are quite reasonable.
All money goes to charity.
Beckham, Butt, Phil Neville already confirmed as playing. More ex players to be announced soon.
Hopefully a Premier League trophy will be on display as well.

Hardly reasonably priced to be honest are they and Neville still hasn't said what charities has he?!

Neville has confirmed he will use proceeds from the testimonial to support sustainable projects within the community, while he also has plans for supporter initiatives at home and abroad.

I don't want to detract what this thread was about, just what tufty wrote was hardly that accurate was all!

I don't know how these things work myself. I went to Alan Groves's testimonial at Oldham Athletic in 1978 but I was more interested in my Dad's 'special coffee'..

Is it usually a pre-requisite then, to announce precisely where the money is pledged to?

Ha, was your dad on a Bovril?!

Not at all, but so many players say it'll go to charity and then it all gets forgotten about and no nominated charities get mentioned. All the official people involved in Nevilles testimonial organising behind the scenes does also make it a bit of a closed shop in some respects too.

Anyway, as I said, I don't want to detract from what this thread is about and the news of having IB doing a live version at Old Trafford, we hear the tune every home game but deffo makes it far more special having him live!

These games have a lot of contractual issues etc, took ages for Juve to sign up to play by the time the Italian lawyers sifted every word. Its taken ages for the player ones to come back as well. Beckham has agreed to play, but to date his contracts not been returned. The same applies to the charity info, a lots kept queit till its handed over, as they then get begging letters from other groups. All of Solskjaers money went to a chosen charity of unicef.
Tickets still on sale via manutd.com for info.
Prem Trophy will also be on display.

Ian Brown was great, but they should have let him sing the full song with background music

I got a couple of text from friends at the game, our Brownie being one of them, and they all say he was quality.
Great stuff.

Just back. Ian was superb. Just a shame it was only half of one song!

Just watched the beginning back on sky. You can hear Ian singing but with the commentators talking over him. I am sure someone better than me would be able to take the commentators off the soundtrack!

I thought he was absolutely superb - great performance from Ian!! Don't think it needed any backing music, he was right on the money and clearly loved every second of it!!
