Ian Brown - rare promo pewter monkey

Question for Jailer:

I picked up a Ian Brown - UFMB pewter monkey not so long a go, and at a pretty good price compared with some of the prices recently paid on eBay. I waited a long time for one to turn up and was under the impression they were a 'rare' promo item of limited number.

However, I have seen quite a few appear on eBay recently, the majority (about 7 I think) are from the same seller. I am not suggesting there is anything underhand or they are not authentic but I just wondered how rare an item it is, and how many were actually made?

Mate, the seller is my friend, and he designed and commissioned them. About 100 of them. He being the canny lad he is, he kept a few for future quiddage.
If you get anything from mattmatt, it's genuine. You have my word.

Thanks Jailer ... I have no issues with the seller nor doubt their integrity. I actually purchased a very rare IB Inter FM Japan Live promo CDr (July 2002), the only official live poydor CDr ever produced (I think) and I am very pleased with it.

Just seeing so many appear on eBay, sort of deflates the effort I endured in getting mine. However, a shrewd move to keep a few back they are selling for between 100 and 200 each!!

The Naeba gig?
Yeah, I have that too.
If it's a P/dor CDR it's authentic. A radio broadcast that never happened.

Yep it is a Polydor release, officially logo'd on CDr but the single front cover is black and white, the polydor logo is bottom centre but it isn't the usual 'red' square. Is yours the same?

If it came from mattmatt it's the same mate, guaranteed.
It's a b/w print.
Nice recording isn't it?

Hi Helen,

Not too sure whether you are refering to UFMB Pewter Monkey or the rare IB Inter FM Japan Live official Polydor promo CDr (July 2002).

UFMB Petwer Monkey ranges in price and usually rises through the interest of the eBay audience. The cheapest I have seen one go for is 86.00 the most expensive is 202, all of which were advertised through eBay. It is a very nice promo item and its 'worth' is what somebody is willing to pay for it I suppose. You will never get ripped off - it is about how much YOU are willing to pay!!

Rare IB Inter FM Japan Live promo CDr (July 2002) - I have never seen this for sale before other than the two copies on eBay. If my memory serves me correctly I think the selling price was around 36.00 for each one. Again interest form the wider IB community and people were prepared to bid for it!
