Serendipity & Spam Bots

Some of you have forwarded PMs to us from a user that's clearly a spambot named Serendipity saying hello and giving a link to a spam site. Don't worry, replying won't have given them your email address or anything else, and Joel has now got shut of them.

For future reference, it's best to ignore unsolicited PMs and if ever in any doubt, PM myself or Joel and one of us will advise you further.
No-one will ordinarily be PM'ing you just to say Hi, and if they do they won't have strange quotations from obscure guru's or links to 'New World' hippy, healing bollocks, so just ignore them if they do.

We have a very tight anti-spam system here which is why you never see any, but occasionally the odd one gets through.

Have had one hitting the Stretford End Flags forum this week, pretending to be a used called Forum Admin, saying you have a virus.
Have heard its happened on other forums in the last week.

I got one, didn't really know what to do so i replied with the link to "introduce yourself here". God, how disappointing, I was extremely pleasant to a spammer.......bummer

Ahh, as I suspected! I was a bit 'huh?' by the quote (the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently) so I didn't bother to reply as it seemed odd.............some people got nothing better to do 'ey?

I actually googled the name of that Bhuddist thingy that she was quoting and had a bit of a read up about her, i am now fully converted and will be PMing all of you shortly.

Recently, some real people (rather than automatic spam-bots) have been registering to post links to shitty Chinese fake clothes/shoes/jewellery etc websites.
Please, just ignore these and don't reply. I'll get round to deleting them and removing the users when I log in.
For now, I have opted to manually authorise every person that registers in a bid to fend them off, but obviously it's not an ideal solution. So if you can help by just ignoring them it'd be great. If you think there's something unsavoury within the post, then just use the report post button and myself or Joel will pick it up.
